Scott Meyer, a 2009 N2TEC Technology Accelerator participant, represented N2TEC Institute at the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators' Alliance (NCIIA) in San Francisco recently. He spoke about his company 9 Clouds, which he co-founded with his brother John in the
summer of 2009, and their experience going through the accelerator process. According to Scott, the grant they received when they were selected to the program "gave us the safety net to take the leap." And it was a big leap because Scott had to leave his job as a professor of political science in Norway and John had to leave his job at Accenture in Minneapolis. Once they decided to make that leap, they never looked back. By the end of the Accelerator, they had gone from business plan to launch in record time. Now, just 9 months later, they are a very successful business with additional offices in Nebraska and Iowa. In fact, they have formed a strategic partnership with another graduate of the program, Robert Amundson, whose company 2DigitMedia specializes in mobile marketing through text messaging.
